Welcome in over
70 years of history.

Everything starts with an idea.

Salvatore Munnia was born in Switzerland 1911.
Moved to Italy in young age, Salvatore began his work experience as a simple worker in the high precision mechanical industry.
In 1940, at the beginning of World War II, his strong entrepreneurial spirit, helps him to establish the OMLAT as a small mechanical reality located in Turin.
Starting with only one lathe and a grinding machine begins for OMLAT the era of spindles for machine tools, achieving step by step more and more prestige in this field, first on a national level, then worldwide.

Omlat SPA

Our History

An industrial reality.

Over the years Omlat has expanded its factory and buying various grinding machines increasing its production capacity up to be recognized worldwide as a high precision mechanics industry. The grinding allows Omlat to process spindle shafts or bearing seats in full compliance with required accurancy.

The evolution of success.

The increasing demand of spindles by machine tools manufacturers,  leads Omlat to incorporate into its structure a new assembly department, where could be carried out assembly operations in series.
The Omlat assembly is structured on product lines basis: therefore on one hand products with smaller size and weight, such as spindles for wood or aluminum and on the other side those for the metal sector, spindles for heavy milling works.

Omlat establish  Comett, a factory located about 15 km from the head quarter, nowadays Comett has around 35 machines tools, most of them CNC Mazak machining centers.
Comett is an added value to Omlat, being it a essential part of the group and giving full  autonomy in production of parts and components  of the spindles.

We’re not making just what’s next.
But what should be next.

The Omlat group, world leader in the field of spindles and electrospindles, thanks to two modern production plants equipped with state of the art machining center and thanks to  a know-how that comes from 70 years of experience, offers to our customers a “ genuinely made in Italy “ product adding more value to their machines.
